Completed on 1997
Singapore’s first suspension footbridge was built linking Tanjong Rhu residential enclave to Kallang Indoor Stadium. The suspension footbridge is 130 meters long with a free span of 79 meters. The footbridge is founded on bored piles with two marine piers and two land abutments. Two 110mm diameter fully locked cables running over two A-frame steel pylons are anchored to abutment blocks on both ends of the bridge. A 4 meters wide, post tensioned concrete deck is suspended by 26mm diameter stainless steel hanger cables. The hanger cables are connected to the main cables by stainless steel clamps and fixed to the bridge deck with hanger brackets. Floodlights illuminate the outline of the bridge and lanterns, installed inside the stainless steel handrails, illuminate the deck for pedestrian traffic. |
